Love your local market campaign

In May 2024, the City of Brussels is participating in the international campaign "Love Your Local Market," which aims to promote markets and their vitality. Numerous activities will be organized at the weekly markets throughout the city.

Every year, around the world, this international campaign aims to promote markets and their vibrancy. It's a great opportunity to highlight that markets support short distribution channels while also being a place for social interaction and creating employment.

This year in Brussels, the start event will take place on Thursday, 16 May, with the Market of Markets at Place de la Monnaie. For one day, the famous square will transform to host around thirty vendors from the city's 15 markets, including artisans, antique dealers, fresh produce sellers, local producers, and even clothing vendors. They will all come to offer their products and represent their respective markets!

From May 16 to 29 and throughout the "Love Your Local Market" campaign, the City will organize various activities and events at your local markets, including concerts, creative workshops, raffles, and much more. These activities help energize different neighborhoods in the city and also promote important values such as the importance of eating local, fighting food waste, and supporting family farming. These events are often organized in partnership with local associations.
